Profile of Dr. Kazimieras Vitkauskas

Kazimieras Vitkauskas graduated Vilnius University in 1979. He is working in Health Care Center of Plunge and in Municipality Hospital of Plunge, Lithuania as pediatrician and general practitioner. His special interest is in breastfeeding promotion.

Have finished the certificate course "Breastfeeding practice and politics" at Child Health Institute in London, 1997, and completed Fellowship within the Paediatric Epidemiology and Community Health Unit of the University of Glasgow in 2003.

Have done some research on Breastfeeding tradition and prevalence in Lithuania, and investigated the effectiveness of various forms of breastfeeding promotion. With personal papers on these topics, have participated in a number of international meetings, including European Conference of Family Medicine, 2002, London; 17th World Conference of Family Doctors, 2004, Orlando; 2nd World Congress of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition, 2004, Paris; and Annual Scientific Meeting of Association of Health Care Professionals, 2005, London.

Dr. Vitkauskas is a member of the Association of Health Care Professionals, and the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine.

Recently he is writing a book on Breastfeeding in Lithuanian.
