Announcing the London Journal of Primary Care

05 February 2008

We are happy to announce that we have been commissioned to publish the London Journal of Primary Care (LJPC) by the Joint International Academies of Research and Education (JIARE). The journal was approved by the Committees of JIARE during their meeting of August 1998. This was in response to the requests from JIARE membership on publicising the innovative work on research and education in primary care, which JIARE sponsors around London and the South East of England, United Kingdom.

The JIARE Committees agreed that the preparations for the publication of the journal’s first edition in 2008 would take place from 1999 to 2007, when some of the JIARE sponsored projects in London and South East England, UK would have been completed and new ones commissioned. It was agreed that two ISSN will be obtained for the Journal, which would be published twice a year both in print and online by 2007. As result the ISSN UK office has allocated the following ISSNs for LJPC:

London journal of primary care (Print): ISSN 1755-9146
London journal of primary care (Online): ISSN 1755-9154

The LJPC will aim to be the dynamic medium of communicating and promoting research, patient care and education in primary health care in London and the South East of England, UK, which will be beneficial to the wider international audience. The Committee agreed that an international Editorial Board would be appointed from 1998 to 2008 to reflect the importance of the projects and articles that would be published in the journal, and wider international relevance. It is anticipated that the first edition of LJPC would be published by 2008, and its website to be launched in 2008/2009.

Two editions of LJPC would be published in print with high quality articles, and other editions would also be published online with other high quality articles. The publication will also include debates, discussions and issues affecting research and education in primary care in London and South East, England, UK with relevance to other parts of the World.

As the Committee of JIARE had commissioned London Journal of Primary Care to cover the whole of London and the South East of England since 1998 to be published by us, we will be publishing it with the same high quality, innovative standard, excellence in style, great international and dynamic coverage, and relevance as we did with our other published journals. To this end we will work very hard to produce highest quality journal, which would be accepted to be indexed in various online databases like EMBASE, MEDLINE, and others as appropriate.

We are also very proud to announce that Dr Comfort Osonnaya had been appointed as Editor in Chief of the London Journal of Primary Care since 2003. Dr Osonnaya will bring the supreme editorial highest quality and leadership she had been giving to the International Journals of Medicine and General Practice and Primary Care to the London Journal of Primary Care.
